Let's Kick

Well, today I'd like to talk about a simple verb -- kick.

I'd bet you use this verb from time to time in your daily conversation, like you would 'kick someone's ass' when you are angry at that someone.

Let's now expand this verb with two different prepositions, namely, kick in and kick off.

Kick in = to start operating or happening

We still don't know why the emergency generator failed to kick in when the power failed.

Kick off = to begin something

We like to kick off the summer by having friends over for a barbecue.

You would see a lot of use of these two phrases in news items, so better equip yourself with them, and don't forget to put the duo into your own writing starting from today!

Hope you enjoy the verb, see you later!
