English Lesson from Dennis (4)

1.
double-cross - it can act as a transitive verb or a noun. As a verb, it means to betray by acting in contradiction to a prior agreement; as a noun, it conveys an act of betraying an ally, a friend, or an associate;

Example: He was going to teach his double-crossing soldier a lesson personally.

2.
elbow room - 1. space which allows you to move around; 2. the freedom to do what you want to do;

Examples:
There's no elbow room at all in this kitchen.

The President should be given as much elbow room as he needs to solve these international problems.

Zoe, please finish your homework on time. =D

  1. 1. A person used to double-cross is not worth to be believe.

    2. I hope the little house made by myself could give enough elbow room to my pet.
